Fuzhou

China, an East Asian country is one of the world’s oldest civilizations. It has a vast cultural history of more than five thousand years and an outstanding natural beauty. On the other hand, this country has remained a comparatively isolated and secluded one, and being a land of mystery, this country is not known to the western half of the world. However, China is rapidly developing and has grown in the phase of modernization, with an immense speed and is also welcoming the outer world to interact and do business with them.

Fuzhou is the provincial seat and the largest prefecture-level city of Fujian province, People's Republic of China. It is also referred to as Rongcheng, which means city of banyon trees. The exact foundation date of this city is not known. When Yue to the north of Fujian was annexed by Chu in 306 BC, Before Christ, a branch of the royal family of the defeated Yue fled Fujian and became the Minyue tribe.

The first city wall of Fuzhou was built in 202 BC when Liu Bang, the founding emperor of the Han dynasty, gave permission to Wuzhu, the king of Minyue, to set up his capital in Fuzhou. The city was named Ye, meaning the beautiful. The name has changed many times, but the city has been continuously occupied since 202 BC and has never suffered major destruction by wars or natural disasters. The Minyue was annexed by Han in 110 BC and became a part of China, and Fuzhou became Ye County.

During the Jin dynasty, West Lake, East Lake and numerous canals in the city were constructed. On November 8, 1911, revolutionaries staged an uprising in Fuzhou. After an overnight street battle, the Qing army surrendered. On November 22, 1933, the leaders of the 19th army set up a short-lived Republic of China in Fuzhou it collapsed in two months. In 1940, the Japanese army bombed a field outside Fuzhou that started an immense firestorm in the city. A few days later, the Japanese took the city until Japan's surrender in 1945.

Fuzhou, justifiably so, enjoys a very positive reputation with worldwide travelers, and is one of the most visited places. It is also said the place of best geographical environment and can trace its origin back to prehistoric times.
