Chifeng is a prefecture level city in the southeast part of Inner Mongolia, near the borders of Chaoyang prefecture in Liaoning province and Chengde prefecture in Hebei. It can be located on a map at 42 degrees, 16 minutes North latitude and 118 degrees 57 minutes East longitude. It has roughly 479,300 inhabitiants, according to January 2002 estimates. The city itself has an estimated population of 356,805 in 2006. It was formerly the seat of the Roman Catholic diocese of Chifeng.
Chifeng has three districts, two counties and seven banners. Its districts include Hongshan district, Yuanbaoshan district, Songshan district and Counties are Ningcheng County, Linxi County. The Banners are like Ar Horqin Banner, Bairin Left Banner, Bairin Right Banner, Hexigten Banner, Ongniud Banner, Harqin Banner and Aohan Banner.

Presently, Chifeng experiences a sharp social, economic and population growth derivative of the strategic position of the locality and the high level of well-being and quality of life that is enjoyed with respect to other places of China. This fact has consolidated along with other adjacent cities, as a great alternative for residence.
