Changde




China is a cultural region and ancient civilization in East Asia. China refers to one of the world's oldest civilizations, comprised of states and cultures dating back more than six millennia. The stalemate of the last Chinese Civil War following World War II has resulted in two separate states using the name China, the People's Republic of China PRC, administering mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau and the Republic of China ROC, administering Taiwan and its surrounding islands.
 
Changde is a city in the Hunan Province of China, with a population of around 6,000,000. The ancient name of Changde is Langzhou. The city was founded during the Han Dynasty. Changde is known for its many Old Stone and New Stone Age sites. About 500 of them have been discovered to date. In the Battle of Changde, chemical and biological weapons were employed as part of the Sichuan invasion in 1943. In 1975, it was hit by Typhoon Nina. Formerly a treaty port, it is now an administrative center and a storage and shipping point for tung oil, grain, cotton, medicinal herbs and wood. Manufactures include ceramics, machine tools, textiles, leather, and processed foods.

Today, one can also learn about its history, from its earliest times and gain enthusiasm in its natural beauty and populace. Changde enjoys a very positive reputation with worldwide travelers.
