Zhongnanhai

China, an East Asian country is one of the world’s oldest civilizations. It has a vast cultural history of more than five thousand years and an outstanding natural beauty. On the other hand, this country has remained a comparatively isolated and secluded one, and being a land of mystery, this country is not known to the western half of the world. However, China is rapidly developing and has grown in the phase of modernization, with an immense speed and is also welcoming the outer world to interact and do business with them.

Just west of the Forbidden City is China's new power enclave, Zhongnanhai, which means the central and South Seas and it refers to the two large lakes in the compound. The compound was built between the 10th and 13th centuries as a getaway spot for the emperor, but most of the buildings date from the Qing dynasty, which ruled China from 1644 to 1911.

After the overthrow of the imperial government and the establishment of the republic in 1911, it served as the presidential palace. Since the founding of the People's Republic in 1949, Zhongnanhai has been home to the highest ranking members of the Communist Party including Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai and Liu Shaoqi. Chinese maps show Zhongnanhai as a green area with a water body, and the municipal government, with a red star.

Zhongnanhai is synonymous with the leadership and government administration as offices of the Central Committee of the Communist Party, the State Council, the Central People's Government and the Military Commission of the Party Central Committee are located here. Chinese Presidents and other top PRC, People’s Republic of China, leadership figures often meet international dignitaries inside the complex.

The most important entrance to the compound is the southern one at Xinhuamen or Xinhua Gate, or Gate of New China, surrounded by two slogans, long live the great Communist Party of China and long live the invincible Mao Zedong Thought. The view behind the entrance is shielded by a traditional screen wall with the slogan, Serve the People, written in the handwriting of Zhou Enlai. The Xinhuamen entrance lies on the north side of West Chang'an Avenue.

China is a popular travel destination for visitors and globe trotters from all over the world who appreciate its beautiful landscapes, rich culture, delicious local cuisine, hospitality and safety. Quality is China's top priority.
