Sichuan University Museum

China, an East Asian country is one of the world’s oldest civilizations. It has a vast cultural history of more than five thousand years and an outstanding natural beauty. On the other hand, this country has remained a comparatively isolated and secluded one, and being a land of mystery, this country is not known to the western half of the world. However, China is rapidly developing and has grown in the phase of modernization, with an immense speed and is also welcoming the outer world to interact and do business with them.

This museum is located on the 1st and 3rd floors of Sichuan University's Liberal Arts building of Chengdu City in the southeast of Chengdu, Sichuan Province. The Sichuan University Museum is the first comprehensive museum founded inside colleges and universities in China. The preparation for the construction began in 1914, and the museum was first completed in 1919. Previously named the Huaxi University Museum, the museum was renamed the Sichuan University History Museum in 1952, and got the current name in 1984.

The museum boasts a collection of over 40,000 cultural relics. Exhibits include costumes and artifacts from minorities in Sichuan Province including Tibetan, Yi, Naxi and Miao peoples, and sculptures, paintings, calligraphic works and artworks from the past dynasties.
