Iron Pagoda

China, an East Asian country is one of the world’s oldest civilizations. It has a vast cultural history of more than five thousand years and an outstanding natural beauty. On the other hand, this country has remained a comparatively isolated and secluded one, and being a land of mystery, this country is not known to the western half of the world. However, China is rapidly developing and has grown in the phase of modernization, with an immense speed and is also welcoming the outer world to interact and do business with them.

The Iron Pagoda, erected strikingly in the Iron Pagoda Park in the northeast of Kaifeng in Henan Province, has attracted renown as the best pagoda China for its superb construction and elegance. Built in 1094 in the Song Dynasty one might assume that the pagoda was made of iron. In fact it is built completely of glazed bricks, patterned in 28 different styles. However from a distance the pagoda appears to be made of iron due to the color of the bricks.

The thirteen-storied, octagonal, pagoda is over 180.4 feet high and looks out onto a nearby park and some sections of the old city wall. Though the unique construction uses bricks it follows a design of wooden pagodas. Apertures, tenons, gouges and slots on the bricks are assured different parts to be joined securely. These firm joints have enabled the pagoda to survive earthquakes, flood and destructive human efforts for over 900 years.

The glazed-bricks on the surface layer are exquisitely engraved of a high artistic standard showing excellent craftsmanship with more than 50 distinct patterns and figures of Buddha and Bodhisattva, different flowers, and lions and kylin, an animal of Chinese legend. The steps of the brick stair spiral to the top from where you can enjoy a view of the whole city.

China is a popular travel destination for visitors and globe trotters from all over the world who appreciate its beautiful landscapes, rich culture, delicious local cuisine, hospitality and safety. Quality is China's top priority.
