Huaxi Park forms the center of the Huaxi Scenic Area in Guiyang, Guizhou Province. It covers an area of about 825 measurement units or 136 acres, of which about 300 measurement units or 49 acres is water area. A blending of natural hills and rivers, idyllic scenery with ethnic features, it has gained the name of Back Garden of Guiyang City. It is also a nature reserve with underground caves known for their crystal clear water and stalactites and stalagmites. At the park there is also an old mill that has been converted into an artists studio which sells a variety of modern paintings and sculptures.
 
Huaxi Park, which means a park where flowers are in full bloom and streams flow, was designed during the Qing Dynasty with towers, pavilions, planted trees and flowers on the hills, and built little islands in the water. The Huaxi or Flower Stream that winds elegantly across the park and the Hills at its two sides are all naturally formed in Huaxi Park. With its clean water and intoxicating scenery along its banks, Huaxi is regarded as The First Love Stream in China.
 
The Lin or Kylin, an animal in Chinese legend, Hill is the highest of the four. On top of Feng or Phoenix Hill, one can overlook the stone houses, stone walls and stone village roads that crisscross the field. On Gui or Tortoise and She or Snake Hills, with various stones in peculiar shapes bordering the roads, the scenery is also appealing. Baibu Bridge or One Hundred Steps Bridge is a winding bridge with stones fixed in water.
