Memorial of the Nanjing Massacre

China, an East Asian country is one of the world’s oldest civilizations. It has a vast cultural history of more than five thousand years and an outstanding natural beauty. On the other hand, this country has remained a comparatively isolated and secluded one, and being a land of mystery, this country is not known to the western half of the world. However, China is rapidly developing and has grown in the phase of modernization, with an immense speed and is also welcoming the outer world to interact and do business with them.
The Memorial Hall to the Victims in the Nanjing Massacre was built by Nanjing Municipal Government in 1985 and extended in 1995, covering an area of 28,000 square meters or 302,400 square feet. It is located in Jiangdongmen, one of the execution sites and mass burial places of the massacre. Solemn and imposing, the grey marble architecture consists of three parts, outdoor exhibits, a historical museum and a building housing the exhibits of the atrocities committed and the remains of those killed during the World War II Japanese invasion of Nanjing during the 1937 occupation.
The outdoor exhibits include all Statues, group sculptures and relief carvings standing solemnly among green pines and cypresses, together with the monument upon which is engraved the dates of the tragic events  while two marble walls are engraved with the name of the hall and  the 300,000 victims. Three large groups of carved reliefs and seventeen small tablets upon which the major sites and historical facts of the massacre are carved, surrounded by withered trees and cobblestones, the wall upon which the names of the victims are listed and the atonement tablet, together form a permanent and moving record of the bloody tragedy. The only heartening exhibit in this otherwise grim museum shows the improvement in Sino-Japanese relations with letters from Japanese schoolchildren apologizing for their country's wartime aggression.
China is a popular travel destination for visitors and globe trotters from all over the world who appreciate its beautiful landscapes, rich culture, delicious local cuisine, hospitality and safety. Quality is China's top priority.
