Meishan is a town 90 kilometer or 56 miles southwest of Chengdu. It was formerly known as Meizhou, a prefecture-level city with more than 100,000 inhabitants in Sichuan province of the People's Republic of China. Meishan is in the southwest of Sichuan Basin. It attracts visitors with an interest in Chinese literature and calligraphy as it was the residence of Su Xun and his two sons, Su Shi and Su Zhe, who were three noted writers of the Northern Song dynasty, who ruled China from 960 to 1127.
 
The residence was converted into a temple during the early Ming dynasty, which ruled China from 1368 to 1644 and renovated in the late 19th century. Today the mansion and pavilions operate as a museum for the writings of the Northern Song period. At the Sansu or the 3 Sus shrine are some 4,500 items of documents are on display including relics of the Su family, writings and calligraphy.
