French Concession

China, an East Asian country is one of the world’s oldest civilizations. It has a vast cultural history of more than five thousand years and an outstanding natural beauty. On the other hand, this country has remained a comparatively isolated and secluded one, and being a land of mystery, this country is not known to the western half of the world. However, China is rapidly developing and has grown in the phase of modernization, with an immense speed and is also welcoming the outer world to interact and do business with them.
The French Concession was founded in 1862 in southwest Shanghai as a result of the Treaty of Nanking. It now covers the Luwan and Xuhui districts. The concession is a pleasant mix of wide tree lined streets and interesting European style architecture of Tudor mansions still retain an air of the Paris of the East. The foreign diplomatic quarter, top hotels, great shopping and international restaurants and bars are all found in this area as art deco buildings. The former residences of Sun Yatsen, Song Qingling and Zhou Enlai are also in the old French Concession.
In the 20s and 30s the French Concession attracted political activists and a house in the concession is the Site of the 1st National Congress of the Communist Party. There are some traditional Shanghai-style lodgings, Shikumen, which are a unique blend of European and Chinese design. There is a nice miniature museum, showing the configuration and interior of a recreated 1930s shikumen house. Huaihai Road once known as Avenue Joffre is one of Shanghai’s favorite shopping roads. Chic shops housed in French style buildings sell Shanghai's finest goods, designer clothes and much more.
China is a popular travel destination for visitors and globe trotters from all over the world who appreciate its beautiful landscapes, rich culture, delicious local cuisine, hospitality and safety. Quality is China's top priority.
