Former Residence of Sun Yatsen

China, an East Asian country is one of the world’s oldest civilizations. It has a vast cultural history of more than five thousand years and an outstanding natural beauty. On the other hand, this country has remained a comparatively isolated and secluded one, and being a land of mystery, this country is not known to the western half of the world. However, China is rapidly developing and has grown in the phase of modernization, with an immense speed and is also welcoming the outer world to interact and do business with them.

Sun Yatsen, father of the Chinese republic, lived in the two story house in the French Concession from 1919 to 1924. His wife Song Qingling continued to live at this residence after Sun’s death until 1937. All the furnishings were arranged by Song Qingling in a way she remembered and most of the objects are original as well. It was here, in the summer of 1922 onwards that Dr. Sun Yatsen met with Lin Boqu, Li Dazhao, and other representatives of the Chinese Communist Party to converse Kuomintang-Communist cooperation that led to the first pact between the two parties.

Former Residence of Sun Yatsen is definitely one of the popular tourist attractions in China. It is worth paying a visit while touring the country. This place will leave a pleasing and unforgettable memory and justify the proud cultural tradition of China.
